I have been a governor at various Greenwich schools at both primary and secondary level since 2000.

I worked in Human Resources at Greenwich Council for many years until my retirement in 2013 and until recently lived in Mottingham. I am a Chair of Governors at Foxfield Primary School which is an outstanding school in Greenwich.

I became first became a governor as I have lived and worked in Greenwich all my life and I wanted to give something back to the community. I believe that all children deserve the best possible education and the chance to achieve their full potential.

It is an exciting time to be a governor at Montbelle and I am looking forward to getting to know the school and being part of the school’s continuing journey towards excellence.

Ed Nedjari
Co-opted Governor (Governor since November 2016). No pecuniary interests. No staff or governor relationships. I am currently Director of Engagement at Goldsmiths Student Union, and therefore have a relatively good idea as to what young people today are asking for in terms of skills and development to get them to each of their next stages in life be that in or out of education. Being involved in access to education programs gives me a good grasp as to where the gaps are in our focus. I am also Chair of resources committee and vice chair of the FGB at Woodhill and have been there since September 2015.

As part of the senior leadership team in my current role, I am involved with the creation and delivery of organisational strategy. I also sit on many committees and boards that connect the college and external partners and project manager large scale events, so communication and organisation are things that I have had to learn and perfect.

Prior to being seconded to Goldsmiths Student Union, I was Head of Student Development at KCLSU, and before that I worked in public sector leisure, managing large leisure and community facilities in SE London, so I am aware of the challenges and barrier affecting families and young people in challenging areas. This gave me commercial experience with regard to promotion, membership engagement, budgeting, recruitment and performance management.

Lastly, I am a parent to two boys now in years 8 and 9 of secondary school. One of the reasons I got involved with being a governor was what I saw at my own children’s primary school. I resolved that rather than just moan about it I would actively try and support schools in trying to make things better for our next generation. I truly believe that developing our children as people.
Kate BarnesCo-opted Governor (Governor since November 2016). No pecuniary interests. No staff or governor relationships. Before retiring I worked as an Inclusion Manager and was part of the senior management team at Sherington Primary School for 17 years. Prior to that I was a Senco at Kidbrooke Park Primary where I also held the post of Teacher Governor for a few years.
As Inclusion Manager I managed a team of teaching assistants, worked closely with outside agencies and had regular meetings with parents. Along with the Headteacher I had responsibility for safeguarding throughout the school and attended regular Case Conferences and Core Group meetings. I wrote and regularly reviewed policies for Safeguarding, Inclusion, Behaviour Management and Attendance.
I have always been totally committed to securing the best educational outcomes for all pupils and supporting staff and families to achieve this. As a governor at Montbelle I hope to share my expertise and assist the school in maintaining high standards and realising its goals and aspirations.
Marie Smith
Parent Governor (Governor since November 2016).I have worked in education for over 15 years as a teaching assistant and then class teacher in a primary school in Chelsea.
