All reception, year 3 and 4 children take part in regular Forest School sessions. Sessions take place in our own Forest School site within school grounds. During the session children wear all weather clothes and are able to explore and investigate in a natural environment. Popular activities include hunting for mini-beasts, climbing trees, building dens, making mud pies and whittling sticks. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for children to experience nature first hand and to develop their problem solving, language, tool use and investigative skills.
On Forest School days children need to bring suitable clothes to school to change into. Ideally they wear layers so they can adapt quickly to changing weather conditions. They are also asked to bring in named welly boots in a named carrier bag as well as a change of clothes in case they get wet or muddy. The School provides them with water proof jackets and trousers.
