We introduced Black History Month with Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman.  Grace loved exploring different characters so we had captured the moment by creating freeze frames in drama, showing some of the characters that she enjoyed most.  We also learned the importance of self-belief and that we can be anything we want to be.

We have a gifted artist.  Here she is exploring pastels in her drawing of Winnie the bear, a character in our whole school book focus Winnie by Lindsay Mattick .  We are very proud of it and have displayed it in the corridor outside our classroom.

Our pirate topic has encouraged the children to think about how ships move.  They used a selection of materials to make simple boats and explore wind force.

First we sorted materials according to our own criteria and then we focused on wood, metal, glass, fabric and plastic.  Once secure with the names, we considered material choices and their purposes.

This is our School Charter.  To support ‘Rights Respecting’ the children considered some of the UNICEF articles, focusing on what their rights were and how they would respect them.  We had great fun making a ship and showing that we are a great crew.
